County Rules

My Garmin device records where it is every few seconds and saves that to a GPX file (basically just an XML file) that I can read later. After a trip I run all of the latitudes/longitudes from the Garmin through a script using a Point in a Polygon algorithm combined with a database of county boundary data. If the Garmin records that I am in a county then that county is considered visited. Also, Parishes and Boroughs are considered counties for the purposes of this.

At my discretion, if I visited a county after dark or I left a county the same way I entered it (unless no other options were available, North Slope Alaska, Key West Florida, Copper Harbor Michigan, etc), then that county would not be added for that trip.
